UNDERSTANDING THE ADHD BRAIN

Why does my child know what to do but struggle to actually do it? ADHD is far more than difficulty paying attention. It is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain processes information, regulates attention, manages impulses, controls behaviour and responds to the environment.

In this session, we explore what ADHD actually is, how the ADHD brain differs from a neurotypical brain, and why common ADHD behaviours occur. Parents and educators will gain a deeper understanding of dopamine, motivation, attention regulation, inhibition and self-control.

By understanding the neurological foundations of ADHD, we can move away from blame and frustration and toward compassion and effective support.

This session provides the foundation for the rest of the course and helps families understand that many ADHD challenges are not a matter of choice, but rather differences in brain function.
